Fish farming has become an activity carried out by women in Yapacaní. Before fish farming, women were not recognized as partners in economic organizations. Now they are formal partners and co-owners of APNI's productive assets with the same rights and obligations as men. Of the 50 current members of APNI, 5 are men and 45 are women. APNI members benefit from credits to purchase food and have access to technical assistance just like men.
